About LEAD

LEAD is a community-centered initiative working to reduce tobacco-related health disparities in Butte County. Through partnerships, advocacy, and community engagement, LEAD advances health equity and environment justice to build a healthier, more just future for all.

Our Goals

Our goals are rooted in the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a healthy life. We strive to:

  • Promote smoke-free environments in homes and outdoor spaces

  • ​Support policies that protect residents from secondhand smoke—without criminalizing individuals

  • Build partnerships with diverse sectors to advance health equity

  • Uplift rural voices in decision-making that impacts community well-being

  • Maintain a Public Health Pipeline internship program to support rural college students entering health careers.

California Health Collaborative

LEAD is proudly a project of the California Health Collaborative. The Collaborative implements health promotion and disease prevention programs, public health surveillance systems, and a variety of capacity-building and networking activities.

Providing information for property managers, landlords, and residents about the benefits of smoke-free policies in apartments, condominiums, and other multi-unit residential buildings.
